The signs are everywhere!

I love the colors of Easter during spring. They are the perfect colors to represent the reawakening of the Earth after the white of winter. Setting the table for my guests for Easter brunch is such a joy. It sparkles, but it is also calming because of the pale pastel hues. I had brunch instead of dinner again this year, so I didn't need all the different pieces of each place setting. The tablescape is fairly simple, but I enjoy looking at the view.

This picture is for my brother-in-law Mike. He was excited to show me "the goldfish". Just like some people see Jesus or the Virgin Mary in their grilled cheese sandwiches, Mike saw "the goldfish" in the cheese that dripped off the quiche he baked for brunch.

Who would have known that a six year old could be so excited over an Easter egg hunt? Sam was beside himself when it was time to look for the eggs. He was definitely an expert egg finder. Nothing was beyond his ability to gather. He made the effort of hiding the eggs SO worthwhile.

Ben wasn't quite so excited about finding eggs, but seemed a little more into finding out what I'd had put into his Easter basket. I think the John Deere Tractor floor puzzle made him the happiest. He's a boy that loves anything that goes vroom!

Next year I'll have to hide the eggs a little bit more challengingly. Is that a word?

These crocuses are blooming in my backyard. They are perfect. So fragile, but will survive if we get a little more snow. Another little reminder that we won't be freezing forever.

A couple of weeks ago I showed the daffodils peeking out. Here's the blooms trying to make their debut.

Here's the whole reason I wanted forsynthia - the mass of yellow blooms in the spring. You can force the branches to bloom early, too, but there are too many steps to get them to bloom indoors, so I just wait for this moment each spring. Because there is so much grey, the yellow of the blooms just look so bright and happy transposed against the grey background.

Look! Can you see my hyacinth blooms are getting ready to emerge!

The picture of my weeping cherry tree buds looks like some professional photographer took the picture. The background is blurred and the buds are just gorgeous. Love it. Don still has the Christmas lights on it, and we put them on at night still. When the tree blooms those big fluffy white blossoms, I think the lights and the blooms together will be a sight to behold.

Yep, the ants are awake now, too.

Hope you enjoyed my Easter/Spring picture tour. Come back again soon.
Jill

  1. You definitely created the highlight for Sam and Ben's Easter! The only way that Easter would have been better for Ben is if he would have gotten to go on the 4-Wheelers with Uncle Don. Ben definitely let Uncle Don know that he was interested. I will have to tell Mike about your blog since his special finding made the posting. Happy Easter and happy Spring! Your garden pictures are beautiful...with the exception of the ants.

  2. Reading the captions for each picture is exactly why I build the gardens for you Jill. I build so you can create the landscape for all to enjoy.
